Although Geoffrey & Jennifer lived one mile apart growing up, ran in the same circle of friends, and attended the same college, they didn’t “meet” until December of 2008. Undoubtedly, they crossed each other’s paths many times without even knowing it.
In November of 2008, Geoffrey stumbled across Jennifer’s Facebook page. He noticed their mutual friends and that they had grown up near one another. He sent her a friend request. She accepted, but it didn’t occur to her where she knew him until a month or so later. She vaguely remembered him through a circle of friends in college. They immediately began corresponding via Facebook, on the phone, and eventually agreed to go on a date. On January 16, 2009, Geoffrey picked up Jennifer from her west Little Rock home and took her to Ristorante Capeo in downtown North Little Rock.
At this time Jennifer was teaching 4th grade and attending graduate school classes at night at UCA. Geoffrey was in his final semester of law school, preparing for graduation and the bar exam. Though they were busy, they made time for their blossoming relationship, even if it meant studying beside one another at San Francisco Bread, Co.
On weekends, they would both take a break from working to go for drives. They would swing by Starbucks, grab a coffee, and drive all over Central Arkansas. They never got out of the car, but sipped their coffee and discussed their futures as they looked at houses and scenic views. Eventually their futures began to blend together as they took those weekend drives. When they were in his car, there were no books to study, papers to grade, outlines to write, or places to be. Those drives are some of their fondest memories.
After months of studying, working, and staying busy, Geoffrey and Jennifer proved they could make it through busy, stressful times together.
On Christmas Eve 2010, Geoffrey took her out for their routine drive with coffee before the holiday festivities would begin. They ended up at the Arkansas River, on a boat ramp, talking about where they were headed in life. It was then that Geoffrey got down on one knee–on the bumpy boat ramp–and asked her to marry him.
They wed on May 21, 2011 in a quaint ceremony overlooking Little Rock in the Pinnacle Room at the Peabody Hotel.
18 months later, Jennifer and Geoffrey were given a welcome surprise – a positive pregnancy test! And on August 6, 2013, they welcomed Harper Elaine Neal into the world. All 6 lbs, 11 oz. of her.
The Neal family is expecting another addition to the family in March of 2016 — this time a little boy.
Geoffrey practices law in Little Rock and Jennifer still teaches, but this time she only has one student – Harper.
The Neal family seeks God’s guidance in their relationships, and treasures their precious love for one another.
